In the eastern part of the Czech Republic, not far from the Polish border, there’s a small town that feels like it was pulled out of another time. Štramberk is often called the “Moravian Bethlehem,” and once you walk through it, you’ll understand why.
This route is short, about 4.5 km, but packed with places that are worth stopping for. It’s an easy loop, perfect for a slow walk where you’re not chasing distance, but moments.
Start and finish are at the parking lot “u Sokolovny” in Štramberk. It’s paid parking (around 100 CZK for the whole day), and it fills up quickly, so getting there early in the morning makes everything easier.
From there, head towards Šipka Cave. It’s a massive natural arch with a strong prehistoric feel. Even from the entrance, you get glimpses of the town below, which already sets the tone for the rest of the walk.
Continue along the red trail, passing several monuments, including a statue of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia. The path leads you to the Bezruč viewpoint, which offers one of the best views of Štramberk and its most iconic landmark — the Trúba Tower. This is one of those spots where you just stop for a moment and take it in.
The Trúba itself is the remains of a medieval castle that once guarded the valley. Today, it serves as a lookout tower. A small detail that’s easy to miss — some of its windows are fitted with colored glass, so when you look through them, the landscape changes its tone depending on the color. It’s a simple thing, but it adds something unexpected.
From there, continue towards U Kamenárky. This was probably my favorite part of the whole route. The viewpoint sits right on the edge of an old limestone quarry, and the scale of the place hits differently. It’s quiet, open, and you can easily spend some time there without noticing.
A few steps further, there’s another viewpoint with a bench — a perfect place to sit down and just be. From here, you get what is, in my opinion, one of the best views of Štramberk and the Trúba Tower.
The loop then continues towards Bílá hora, where you’ll find a modern lookout tower and the so-called “Solar Trail,” inspired by zodiac signs. Even if the tower is closed, the walk itself is worth it.

One thing to keep in mind — Štramberk is very dog-friendly, but the historic center has narrow cobblestone streets and can get busy, especially on weekends. Early mornings are the best if you want to enjoy it in peace with your wolf 🐺
And if you’re there, don’t skip the local specialty — Štramberk Ears. Traditional gingerbread with a bit of a story behind it, just like the town itself.
Very interesting and nice places
